Sony’s video games streaming service, PlayStation Now, is slowly evolving into a service that more gamers would like to use. The latest change comes as welcome news to some: Subscriptions. When the service went into public beta, there was a lot of disdain over the pricing of individual game rentals. Still, PlayStation promised they were working on subscription plans. Today, those plans have been revealed.
Starting January 13th 2014 in North America and on PlayStation 4 first, PlayStation Now will feature the following subscription plans:
- 1 Month of Unlimited Access – $19.99
- 3 Months of Unlimited Access – $44.99
These subscription plans will allow gamers to play as many games as they would like through the PlayStation Now service as long as their plan is active. The new service, which is targeted at people who never had a PS3 and those who missed many of its games, currently has over 100 PS3 games in its streaming catalog.
As a bonus, PlayStation also revealed a contest where you can win a full year subscription to PlayStation Now just by downloading a special PS4 PS Now theme that will be available later this month. When you download the theme (before January 31st), your name will automatically be entered into the drawing for the one year subscription. What’s more, Sony is offering a 7-day free trial of the PS Now subscription, so you can try it before you buy it.
So Sony has been listening, but is it enough for you? Sound off in the comments below! What do you think of the new subscription plans?
