Every day we all face challenges. Some are large, some are small. No matter what we may be going through, it’s always nice to try and help others when we can. As a member of the PlayStation MVP program, I have been able to connect with fellow gamers from across the country who share a similar passion. Some are journalists or bloggers like myself. Others are streamers. Some just have a massive love for the brand. Whatever the case is, we are all humans – just regular people. With that, we aren’t exempt from the problems that many people face in the world. Enter Josh, aka Zookey – one of my fellow PS MVP’s. We’ve been in contact for several years, through the MVP program, Twitter, and other means. Zookey revealed that his brother is going through a bit of a trial and needs help. While he asked a smaller group of MVP’s, with his permission, I felt like I’d share the story with you guys.
Zookey’s brother Trev (who is actually another MVP and gamer who goes by Mehrsilis) has been dealing with chronic kidney failure since 2002 and has had countless surgeries – well over 70. He’s currently in dialysis three times a week and is also recovering from Guillain-Barre Syndrome, a rare illness where your immune system attacks your nerves.
Needless to say, he has gone through a lot. As someone with chronic health issues, I know apart from the physical ailments, how costly it can be financially, emotionally, and to those around you. So, I think it’s wonderful when we can help out where we can and we can do so with Trev. How so? Well, after years of waiting, Trev will finally be on the top of the list for a kidney transplant!
Now, nobody is asking you to donate your kidney, but what you can do is Raise a Pint to Trev. To pay for travel and medical costs, a local brewery in Great Falls, Montana, Mighty Mo, has offered to throw a benefit for Trev. ‘Raise a Pint to Trev’ is the name of the fundraiser that Zookey and company are throwing for Trev on November 30th from 5-8 PM and many are getting involved. Not only is the pub helping out but game devs and publishers like Insomniac Games and Sony Computer Entertainment are pitching in too. Will you? Zookey invites everyone who can, to have a pint with them and party.
Games, drinks, and crafts will be a large part of the benefit for those who attend and a dollar from each drink will go towards the fund. But for those who can’t attend, there are a few ways you can participate remotely and also score some sweet stuff in the process via a raffle. Some of the prizes include:
If you want a ticket, email Zookey [email protected] and they’ll get them to you! Drawing is on November 30th. Even if you can’t donate, help spread the word. They also aim to have a live stream of the actual party at www.Twitch.TV/ZookeyTK so people who can’t come can still participate and see how the silent auctions/drawings go!

So Raise a Pint for Trev if you can and help a fellow gamer in need!
